Split leaf philodendron
This beautiful houseplant is easy to care for if you give it adequate light and water. Monstera albo variegata has dark green leaves with white or cream spots on them. At maturity, a Monstera albo variegata can reach from three to five feet in height and width. It’s best grown in hanging baskets so that it does not take up too much room on your countertop or desk. The split leaf philodendron prefers high humidity and indirect sunlight, but will tolerate lower light levels as long as it gets enough water. In fact, one of its common names is split-leaf philodendron because when exposed to dry air or temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius), its leaves will split open along their lengthwise veins. This makes it easier for air to circulate through them, which allows moisture to evaporate more quickly. When you are watering your plant, be sure to let all excess water drain out of its pot before placing it back into its preferred location. Overwatering is one of the most common mistakes people make when caring for a Monstera albo variegata; keep an eye on how much moisture collects at the bottom of its pot after watering and do not overwater again until that amount has been reduced by half.

soil for monstera albo

This plant has a number of common names. It is known as split-leaf philodendron because it can be grown as a houseplant. Its leaves are usually 12 inches (30.5 cm) long, but in healthy plants they grow larger and can reach up to 1 foot (30 cm). Some more common names for Monstera deliciosa include split-leaf philodendron, golden heart, pacman plant, ribbon plant, Swiss cheese plant and zebra plant. The name monstera comes from its resemblance to some species of monsteras native to Mexico. The specific epithet deliciosa means delicious or pleasing, referring to its edible fruit. In Spanish, it is called Taro de leche, which translates into Milk Tree. In German, it is called Schneeglöckchen which translates into Snowbell. In France, it is called Arbre à pain which translates into Bread tree. In Italy, it is called Polpo Gigante which translates into Giant octopus. In Brazil, it is called Flor de Pau-d’Arco which translates into Arrowroot flower. In South Africa, it is called Waterblommetjiebos which translates into Little water flower bush.

watering of monstera plants

Watering Monsteras can be tricky because, unlike most other houseplants, they are not drought tolerant. You need to keep them regularly moist without overwatering. The best way to do so is to use a watering can and submerge each plant’s soil completely until water drains out of holes in pot. Then allow all excess water to drain before removing it from its saucer. If you must use a spray bottle or an automatic watering system, leave plants’ soil thoroughly dry between weekly showers. Allow 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) of space around each plant for good air circulation. Make sure that your container has drainage holes in its bottom; if there aren’t any, drill some using a power drill fitted with a 1/8-inch (3 mm) bit. Keep your Monsteras away from heating vents and drafts, which could dry out their foliage quickly. Also avoid direct sunlight, as too much sun exposure can burn leaves. Most importantly, don’t let your Monsteras get too cold. They should never freeze! Maintain daytime temperatures above 55 degrees F (13 C), and nighttime temperatures above 50 degrees F (10 C).

storage
They should be kept in a cool, shady place and sprayed with water every day. Fertilize them once every two weeks with organic fertilizer. Keep their soil moist at all times; they’re susceptible to root rot if left too dry. If you want to propagate your plant, remove a stem from it and plant it in damp soil or water. Cuttings will grow roots within about three months. If you notice any pests on your plant, spray it with an insecticidal soap solution immediately—it’s best not to use harsh chemicals around these plants as they are very sensitive to toxins. Finally, make sure that there is adequate airflow throughout its home. You can do so by keeping it near a window that has direct sunlight during part of the day. As long as you take care of your Monstera Albo Variegated 5 leaves, it should stay healthy for years to come!
